It’s that time of year again.
I’m looking forward to a lovely break. I’ll be making art, spending time with family and reading lots of books. How about you?
I’ll also be taking time to review my year in depth. I do this every year, usually in conversation with my husband Peter.
I recently asked members of my monthly co-working group for their thoughts on the benefits of doing an annual review (thanks lovely people!). I think their answers pretty much sum it up:
An Annual Review helps you to:
- See what you did well and what you didn’t do so well
- Acknowledge how far you have come
- Learn from things that could have gone better
- Get new ideas
- Understand how your work relates to your goals
- Include other people’s perspectives
- Gain a perspective on what has been achieved
- Get clearer on the direction you want to go in next
- Celebrate success!
As one member said, “If you don’t review, you don’t get to notice your progress”.
I agree, it can be so easy to just plough on to the next thing without looking back.
So, here’s a few quick questions to help you review your year:
Start your Rapid Review
- What are you celebrating about 2021?
- What went well?
- What could have gone better?
- What did you learn?
- What new ideas do you have for 2022 and beyond?
- What new goals are you ready to commit to for 2022 and beyond?
If you have a team or associates, try asking them these questions too.
